All 13 New Mounts In FFXIV: Dawntrail, Ranked Worst To Best

All 13 New Mounts In FFXIV: Dawntrail, Ranked Worst To Best

Summary In Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, there are several unique and captivating mounts that players can collect and add to their stables.

These mounts range from adorable capybaras with aether-manipulating abilities to majestic dragons and futuristic mechas.

Although collecting all of the mounts in Dawntrail is difficult, it may be worth it for the dedicated player.

Final Fantasy XIV introduced several new mounts in its latest expansion, Dawntrail, but although there are many excellent choices for collectors, some are especially exciting to see in the game. It remains to be seen how Dawntrail will compare to previous expansions, but Square Enix’s talent for creating unique, adorable, and even humorous mounts over the years sets a pretty high bar. Considering the sheer breadth of material the franchise has to work with, SE has plenty of options for introducing mounts to delight fans.

Yet, while each mount introduced in the expansion is great in its own right, some pale in comparison to others. Another factor is the effort required to unlock each one. Although some players love grinding for collectibles, particularly for the grind itself, not all collectibles are necessarily worth it. Additionally, some mounts require real-world resources. On the other hand, there are good reasons to save certain mounts for later, while others are well worth whatever effort they require.

13 Rroneek (Splendors Vendor)

Where How Purchased from the Splendors Vendor in Solution 9 at coordinates (X: 9.2, Y: 13.3) or the market board 100 Rroneek Horn Tokens from Orange Gatherers’ Scrips

The Rroneek is a striking beastkin resembling an ox found throughout the New World of Tural, especially in Shaaloani. Rroneeks are revered by local tribes and used for labor and transportation.

While the Rroneek is a neat addition to any collection, obtaining it can be challenging for those without high-level gatherers. Even though it can also be found on the market board, it’s likely to be expensive – especially for the foreseeable future. Although it’s unique, it’s the worst on the list because it requires a lot to purchase for what is, at best, a novelty.

This mount stands out for its cuteness, appealing to players who love adorable animal companions. While it may not be as impressive as other mounts, its ease of acquisition makes it a charming and accessible option for all players. The Alpaca’s endearing appearance and cultural significance add a unique charm to anyone’s collection, making it a worthwhile reward for completing Dawntrail’s engaging story.

Where How Uah’shepya in Solution 9 at coordinates (X:8.6, Y:13.4) Purchased with12 Ttokrrone Scales, which can be obtained from the FATE “The Serpentlord Seethes” in Northern Shaaloani

The Mewhapyarra is an adorable capybara with a mysterious aptitude for manipulating aether. While all mounts can fly for convenience, the Mewhapyarra’s flying ability is woven into its lore as a subject of academic debate.

While the Mewhapyarra is harder to acquire than the alpaca, it is arguably more adorable. This delightful mount not only adds a touch of whimsy but also offers an intriguing blend of cuteness and lore, making it a favorite among players who are on the hunt for even more furry companions.

The Automatoise mount is a massive tortoise equipped with high-tech armor and weaponry, first encountered in one of the new Dawntrail dungeons. It is unavailable for purchase until after the Dawntrail quest is completed.

The Automatoise is a clear upgrade from the Adamantoise mount introduced in A Realm Reborn. Its futuristic design and formidable appearance make it a standout addition to any mount collection. Although not the most challenging to acquire, it’s a rewarding and visually striking option for those who enjoy animal mounts with extra bells and whistles.

9 Ullr (Achievements)

The Dragon Mount Reward For Hunting Marks In Dawntrail

While the Ullr’s design is impressive, its steep acquisition requirements make it a challenging pursuit. This mount is perfect for dedicated players who enjoy farming for collectibles and showcasing their achievements. Though the effort is considerable, the Ullr offers a visually stunning and rewarding option, adding a sense of prestige and accomplishment to any player's mount collection.

8 Oppressor (Level 25 In PvP Series 6)

A Reskinned Alexander Boss From PvP

Where How Redeem via the PvP Profile Rewarded for reaching level 25 in PvP Series 6

The Oppressor is a striking reskin of a boss from the Alexander raids from Heavensward, perfectly suited to the competitive nature of PvP. It’s an aptly chosen mount, given the context of PvP.

Its design adds a lot more color than what was found on the corresponding raid boss, and it would be easy to see why players would be interested in collecting it. The effort required to reach the prerequisite level 25 is not too difficult since it occurs naturally by simply participating in PvP content. It’s a welcome capstone reward for those who enjoy PvP.

Obtaining the Ty’aitya’s requires completing a significant number of FATEs to gather the necessary vouchers. However, since many will have plenty of reasons to farm FATEs throughout the expansion, collecting said vouchers shouldn’t be too far out of their way.

This Mecha Mount Plays The FF9 Battle Music

Where How Mog Station Redeemed using the Dawntrail Collector’s Edition code

Ark is a colossal mecha with a giant gunblade protruding from its shoulder. The mount also transforms into an airship while flying. In addition to simply being an awesome mecha, Ark is a throwback to a recurring Final Fantasy summon that first appeared in FF9.

The current expansion features a number of throwbacks to FF9, and Ark represents another collectible for fans of the beloved title. Like in Final Fantasy XIV's promo video, Ark plays the FF9 battle music while mounted instead of the generic mount music, and since the collector’s edition is purchasable at any time, it’s relatively easy to acquire.

5 Outrunner (Achivements)

A Flying Television Complete With Ears And Floating Hands

Where How Achievements Attain level 100 on every battle job to earn the achievement, “A Life of Adventure VI”

Outrunner is a floating TV-like entity that first appears as a mob in Dawntrail. The model is complete with mechanical ears, a pair of floating hands, and a digital face.

Its quirky design should appeal to most collectors for its cute and comical features. This is also one of the few mounts that absorb the character riding it, which is becoming more common with recent mount designs but is still relatively rare. Considering the grind involved with leveling all battle classes, this is a welcome reward for all that effort.

FFXIV has featured several mounts through the years that make it appear the player is being carried, and a couple of mounts released recently seemed to tease that genuine flight may be right around the corner. These wings announce Dawntrail’s theme for extreme trial mounts, and players will need to collect each of them to unlock the final set of wings either way.

Dark Fairy-Like Wings

Similar to the Wings of Ruin, the Wings of Resolve is a set of wings. Unlike the Wings of Ruins, however, these wings are dark with blue and violet accents.

While both wings are gorgeous, the dark wings from Everkeep affect an almost gothic fairy aesthetic. Hidden behind their black feathers are a smaller set of butterfly wings that make this set pop. With their imposing appearance and symbolic significance, these wings should appeal to players who appreciate mounts that embody both beauty and resilience in their journeys through Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
