Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 1's Peace In The Valley Gets Ominous Tease From Stars: "Fun While It Lasted"

Summary Peace between Cobra Kai characters won't last in season 6.

Relationships and friendships will be tested during the Sekai Taikai tournament.

Old animosities could resurface, and new rivalries may emerge in season 6.

Several stars from Cobra Kai season 6 discuss how the peace between the characters won't last heading into the Netflix show's final episodes. What was notable about the Cobra Kai season 5 ending was that it seemed to conclude all the major feuds between the younger protagonists. For example, Miguel and Robby were joking around. Even in the case of Tory and Samantha, the former enemies were able to set aside their animosity for the greater good. However, with the all-important Sekai Taikai tournament coming around, that sense of ease won't last too long.

In an interview with Screen Rant's Grant Hermanns, several of the younger Cobra Kai cast members talked about how the sense of friendship will be short-lived. Ahead of the show's July 18 return to Netflix, Peyton List said that the return of hostilities is heartbreaking. The actor, who plays Tory, gives her comments alongside Mary Mouser (Samantha) and Tanner Buchanan (Robby). Gianni DeCenzo, who portrays Demetri, hints at his character's issues with Hawk (Jacob Bertrand). Read their comments below:

Peyton List: It’s a little more heartbreaking after building these relationships in the beginning of season 6, and finally being at the Miyagi dojo, and being in the backyard, and feeling like there’s a sense of support. It’s much more heartbreaking as the season goes on. Mary Mouser: Yeah, definitely. I love the idea of peace in the Valley. I also thought, from a viewer perspective, Samantha, very happy about it, Mary thinks it would be a little fun to stir the pot, so I’m not too mad about the drama that unfolds, although some of it, yes, heartbreaking. But I think there’s the fun karate, it gets heightened, and it happens surrounding the chaos of Cobra Kai. Tanner Buchanan: I think it’s pretty peaceful the entire series, honestly. [Chuckles] Gianni DeCenzo: I mean, it was fun while it lasted, having the peace, but yeah, like we said, it was all of nine minutes, which I think is a record for this show. So, I think we deserve some props there. But without getting into spoilers, you want to talk about pot stirring? There’s some pot stirring between the binary bros this season, especially a lot of script flipping. You’ll see what I mean later.

Where Do Things Stand With The Cobra Kai Friendships In Season 6?

Progress Could Be Undone

In terms of the relationship between Miguel and Robby, they buried that hatchet by the end of Cobra Kai season 5 and pal around for most of the remaining episodes. That seems likely to change, as they both compete for Miyagi-Do captain, which Miguel even teases in the trailer for season 6. However, one thing to keep in mind is that they will be step-siblings soon enough, considering that their respective parents are dating and are committed to one another.

Sam and Tory are on shakier ground. Even though other former rivals seem especially at ease with one another, the two long-running Cobra Kai characters don't quite get there. They're still tense, and they never really have any sort of clarifying conversation about their past. In contrast to Miguel and Robby, it's more that they seem fine enough that they're willing to work on the same side. Old animosities could flare up once they no longer have a reason to be partners.

But the most intriguing tease may be about the Binary Bros, Hawk and Demetri. The duo have had their differences, though they've also been utilized as comic relief. The fact that they could be back as rivals only serves to clarify that Cobra Kai season 6 is not messing around in terms of showing how important the final championship chip is for everyone involved.
