Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Has Found Its Official Heir For Mariam

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Has Found Its Official Heir For Mariam

Warning! SPOILERS about Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6 ahead.

Summary Mariam's successor in calling out injustices emerges in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6.

Tracy embodies Mariam's characteristics, standing up for prisoners' rights and denouncing those taking advantage of them.

Cherry's return connects Tracy to Mariam, as she was one of Mariam's students who was also interrogated by her.

Beginning with Mariam’s funeral, Mayor of Kingstown season 3 established early on how big of a loss her death constituted – however, one character’s story arc in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6 showed she could easily be Mariam’s successor in the way she spoke truth to power. Ever since Mayor of Kingstown season 1 introduced the McLusky brothers and how the informal role of mayor embroiled them in shady dealings with criminals, it also presented Mariam’s staunch opposition to the role. While she accepted Mitch’s involvement, she opposed Mike’s after Mitch’s death kickstarted the events of Mayor of Kingstown.

Although Mariam opposed Mike taking over Mitch as mayor, she helped those coming in contact with Mike because of his role. Indeed, Mariam tried helping Iris in Mayor of Kingstown season 2, even when she was a flight risk and brought the fight to her house. Unlike many characters who chose revenge in Mayor of Kingstown, Mariam refused to do so, and when a young boy mugged her, she refused to press charges after she learned how the police had mistreated him. One Mayor of Kingstown season 3 story hinted a character might take over Mariam’s mantle as a do-gooder.

Tracy's Complaint To The Warden Shows She's Looking Out For The Prisoners In Mayors Of Kingstown

The Warden Compares Tracy To Mariam

Tracy’s return to work after giving birth to Mitch not only highlighted how she was too entangled within the prison system working as a nurse in prison but also introduced a story arc for her involving an old Mayor of Kingstown season 1 character. Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6 shone a brighter light on Tracy’s path, as the episode saw Tracy taking a stand against how the guards were treating a pregnant inmate about to give birth and being willing to report Cherry’s situation to the warden. Both events highlight the similarities between Tracy’s attitude and Mariam’s.

The warden herself welcomed Tracy in her office in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6 by telling her that Mariam raised plenty of problems when she visited her office, drawing similarities between Tracy’s impending complaint and Mariam’s multiple attempts to change the status quo in the prisons. Tracy using the correct terminology when discussing Cherry’s condition showed she took to heart how unjust was that nobody did anything to protect Cherry, given that she could have only become pregnant while in prison. The exchange with the warden proved Tracy embodied Mariam’s boldest characteristics, speaking truth to power like her late mother-in-law.

Cherry's Return To Mayor Of Kingstown Crowns Tracy As Mariam's Heir

Mariam Listened To Cherry After She Accused The CO She Killed Of Assault

Mayor of Kingstown season 3 honored Mariam even through Tracy’s actions, as the convict Tracy took an interest to had a lengthy history with Mariam. Indeed, not only did Mariam teach Cherry in Mayor of Kingstown season 1, but she was also forced to interrogate her after Cherry killed a rookie guard in retaliation for killing a Crip. The prison wanted Mariam to coax Cherry into admitting she hadn’t been assaulted by the guard she killed, but Mariam actually listened to Cherry, hearing her history of violence and refusing to do the prison’s bidding.

Mayor of Kingstown season 3 reintroducing Cherry brilliantly set up Tracy as Mariam’s heir, as both women realized the injustices Cherry suffered even when the prison ignored them. However, while Mariam couldn’t do much to help Cherry, Tracy brought Cherry’s case to the warden, highlighting how important it was that the injustices Cherry suffered didn’t go unpunished, effectively continuing Mariam’s job with Cherry and becoming her Mayor of Kingstown season 3 replacement.
