Nicole and Mahmoud had been married for four years but were trying to save their marriage from divorce as Nicole moved to Egypt to start over and follow her husband’s culture and traditions.

When Nicole decided that the 32-year-old's controlling nature wasn’t something she could tolerate in his country, she made him come to the U.S. However, Mahmoud still argued with Nicole over the way she dressed or her having alcohol at home. Nicole also refused to respect Mahmoud’s lifestyle. She provoked him by doing things he didn’t approve of, asking him to leave her house in the middle of the night or making derogatory comments against him. Mahmoud was arrested in February 2024 for an alleged domestic violence incident. Nicole implied she was the victim, and viewers believe the couple had split.

Nicole was always fascinated by clothes, and now she could learn how to make them on her own. Nicole graduated with honors in 2014 and with a BFA in fashion design. She interned with brands like Metal Noir and even as a seamstress for visual artist Jonas Becker. Nicole worked in the fashion industry for almost a decade but decided she didn’t have the personality for it.

Nicole had turned to spirituality, which took her to Egypt and led to her meeting Mahmoud. However, back home, Nicole didn’t quit working in the fashion sphere. She was selling vintage clothes for a living. Fans tried a lot to figure out where Nicole was selling these beautiful, rare pieces that she showed to the cameras during her 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way debut. Finally, in July 2024, Nicole revealed her “online clothing boutique, Maude & Aster,” was finally open. Nicole announced a two-day grand opening sale and shared a website link.

This suggests Mahmoud and Nicole are still together despite his arrest.
