Having said that, given the mixed reception of Forspoken it's not difficult to see Square Enix's action game landing on PS Plus; Hogwarts Legacy feels much more unlikely as the Wizarding World game managed to be 2023's best-selling video game, and still boasts a massive community of players.

While Forspoken is widely agreed to be somewhat of a middling experience, the game managed to spark conversation for its dialogue, poor performance, and lofty system requirements. Ahead of its release, footage of the player character's conversations sparked controversy after many insisted it featured some of the worst writing they'd yet encountered in a video game. While critics largely agreed that the dialogue was poor, many insisted that the actual game was fun enough to overlook these gripes.

As for Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world RPG was shrouded in controversy the very moment it was announced due to it being a part of the franchise created by author J.K. Rowling, a public figure who's criticized for her openly transphobic comments and politics. Despite assurances from the developers that Rowling was not actively involved in the game's production, many insisted on boycotting the project to stand in support of the transgender community. Despite this, Hogwarts Legacy still managed to be 2023's best-selling game.

Whether or not Forspoken and Hogwarts do arrive on PS Plus Extra, the subscription service is still loaded with excellent titles.
