Based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, from showrunner Steve Blackman, the series premiered on Netflix in February 2019 and centers around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse. It's confirmed that the upcoming episodes will pick up on the major Umbrella Academy season 3 ending, in which a new timeline is revealed as dictated by family patriarch, Reginald (Colm Feore). The siblings no longer have their powers in this timeline, though that's not the only strange thing in the new timeline. With the stakes being higher than they ever have been, the siblings have enemies that are very eager to see them wiped from existence. The question is, how will they fight back without their powers? And will they ever get those powers back?

In addition to Feore as Reginald, The Umbrella Academy cast are all on board for season 4. That includes Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, and Ritu Arya. There will also be some recognizable additions to the ensemble, including Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Megan Mullally (Will & Grace), and Arrested Development alum David Cross.
