Gladiator 2’s first trailer has been released, and it looks better than I ever imagined. When Ridley Scott announced his plans to direct a Gladiator sequel two decades after the first movie, I had doubts about whether this was a good idea. Still, compared to the number of legacy sequels and reboots released every year, Gladiator 2 did sound like a more interesting project. That said, considering how difficult it is to replicate the magic of a classic like Gladiator, I needed to see what the first trailer was going to look like first.

Naturally, there were a lot of reasons to be excited about the sequel even before the trailer came out. This includes the Gladiator 2 cast, which includes names like Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Joseph Quinn. The first couple of Gladiator 2 images and the official poster got me excited, but I could not wait to see what the movie was actually going to look like. Fortunately, not only did the trailer not disappoint, it blew my expectations out of the water.

Gladiator 2's Trailer Is Brilliant

The first trailer for Gladiator 2 looks much better than I thought it would. Although it is no surprise that a Ridley Scott movie looks good, there were a lot of reasons to be concerned about what Gladiator 2 was going to be like. It may be too soon to say whether the sequel will work, especially compared to the first movie, but the trailer is brilliant. From the visuals to what we have seen from the performances, Gladiator 2 is shaping up to be one of the best movies of the year based on the first trailer.
