I Have a New Favorite Justice League Hero Thanks to the PERFECT Movie Reference

Summary Booster Gold's epic Mean Girls reference in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15 solidifies him as one of my favorite heroes.

Mark Russell and Jon Mikel's Time Jerks story takes Booster on a wild journey with the Jurassic League.

Despite being an outcast in the Justice League, Booster Gold has won over fans with his hilarious and memorable moments in comics.

WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15!I will always be a die-hard Wonder Woman and Batman fan, but recently, one Justice League hero has been growing on me. Now, with this iconic character quoting Mean Girls, he has officially become one of my all-time favorites. After all, who doesn’t love a touch of Regina George in their comics?

Mark Russell and Jon Mikel’s Booster Gold-centric story, Time Jerks, concludes in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15. This time-traveling adventure has been a wild ride, featuring Booster’s encounters with the Jurassic League—the dinosaur version of the Justice League—his role in the extinction and subsequent salvation of the human race, and much more.

As I followed this three-part saga, I gradually warmed to Booster, a character I once avoided. With this final issue, Booster has officially become a favorite of mine, thanks to a memorable Mean Girls reference that truly sealed the deal.

“Get In, Losers! We Got a Planet to Save!”: Booster Gold Just Quoted Mean Girls (& I’m SO Here For It)

Fans of Mark Waters and Tina Fey’s Mean Girls (2004) are familiar with one of the decade’s most iconic movie quotes: “Get in, Loser. We’re going shopping!” This line has firmly entrenched itself in pop culture, continuing to be quoted by fans, including myself, even twenty years later. So, I was absolutely thrilled when Booster Gold repurposed this classic quote with his own twist: “Get in, Losers. We Got a Planet to Save!” This reimagining was an epic nod to the original, adding a unique spin while keeping it instantly recognizable.

The context of this quote comes into play when Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman are sent 65 million years into the past, preventing them from stopping an asteroid that’s about to strike present-day Earth. Displaced in time, the Trinity does their best to help their dinosaur counterparts survive the fallout from their mass extinction event, but their efforts are in vain. Just when it seems like the Trinity’s own lives are in danger, Booster Gold arrives at the last moment to take them back to their time and avert their asteroid disaster, shouting, “Get in, Losers. We Got a Planet to Save!”

Booster Gold May Be a Justice League Outcast, But He’ll Forever Have a Place in My Heart

Close

Booster Gold is often portrayed as the outcast of the Justice League, with his membership either precarious or non-existent, despite his own belief that he’s part of the team. This usually leads to stilted and awkward interactions with other members, who often refuse to recognize him as a hero and are vocal about their dislike. Despite this, I’m officially adding him to my list of favorite characters, thanks to Russell and Mikel’s brilliant dialogue and art that have given me a new appreciation for him. Though Time Jerks has ended, I’m hopeful for more hilariously memorable Booster Gold and Justice League moments in future comics.
