Warning: Spoilers for TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #2!
In the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ near future, Michelangelo died fighting for a better future and helped to pave the way for the next generation of Turtles to carry on his and his brothers' legacy as New York City’s heroic reptilian protectors. Mostly relying on their ninjitsu skills and weapons in a fight, Michelangelo’s replacement, Odyn, has found a way to up his predecessor with a unique superpower that could make him near impossible to defeat in combat.
Similar to Mikey, Odyn is portrayed as the youngest and least mature and clever turtle of the bunch, with the last issue of this Last Ronin sequel series showing Odyn inexplicably freeze up mid-battle like a statue made of stone, only for him to return to normal sometime later.
But it’s not until the end of TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #2 that Odyn finds a way to effectively wield this once paralyzing power in a positive way, making Odyn’s hardening superpower a perfect addition to his already commendable repertoire of martial arts skills.

Odyn Finally Gains Control Over His Unique Hardening Power
TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #2 - 2024 (Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman, Ben Bishop, Esau Escorza and Isaac Escorza)
Hitting the streets after two rival gangs go to war with no consideration for the innocents around them, the new Turtle team of Uno, Moja, Odyn, and Yi, along with April O’Neil and her daughter Casey Marie, jump into the fray to stop the madness. Using their refined ninjitsu techniques and mastery over various ninja weapons to beat back the criminal tide, it isn’t long before Odyn begins to feel the tightening of his skin again. With a clenched fist, Odyn soon realizes, “I can control it!” and with one hit, knocks his opponent out with ease.
Packing more punch than a normal attack (multiple teeth fly out of the gang member’s mouth on contact), the grey skin that hardens over Odyn’s fist is still flexible enough for him to move his hand, yet strong enough to be a major power upgrade for the character. Furthermore, it stands to reason that once Odyn continues to fine-tune his proficiency over this new skill, he’ll be able to efficiently shift his hardening in multiple offensive and defensive ways, potentially making him an even more unstoppable tank of a fighter who rarely gets injured in any significant way.
Odyn Uses His New Stone Ability as an Effective Offensive Tool in Battle
It’s worth noting that Odyn isn’t the first of his siblings to gain a unique power. Uno commands the ability to switch to “dark mode” camouflage, with Odyn’s sister, Yi, also debuting an electricity-based power at the end of the issue, leaving Moja as the sole turtle left to get a new ability. It remains to be seen if these superpowers will be a permanent upgrade for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles team, but since Odyn has already found a way to control his power, odds are this latest wrinkle in TMNT lore is here to stay.
