Don't miss out on Ender Lilies on PS Plus when it arrives on August 6.
PlayStation Plus subscribers looking for a challenging experience this August are in luck because one of 2021's best-reviewed metroidvania RPGs is coming to the platform soon. Aside from the family-friendly fun of the expansive LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and the grim terror of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, players looking to really sink into an immersive role-playing game will probably want something different. Fortunately, August's package also includes a cult-classic Souslike that managed to impress everyone when it first launched.
Per the official PlayStation Blog, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is slated to drop on PS Plus on August 6 and while some may dismiss it for its 2D art style, that would be a massive mistake. The game was hit amongst fans and critics in 2021, earning an 86 on Metacritic and an impressive 8.4 User Score on the same platform. Taking plenty of inspiration from FromSoftware's RPGs like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Live Wire's metroidvania is littered with rewarded and creative combat within a dark world that's begging to be explored.

What Is Ender Lilies About?
Cursed Knight And Horrific Monsters
Close
Perhaps the most unique aspect of Ender Lilies is how the game handles combat since the player character, the titular Lily, isn't actually equipped for battle and can only dodge enemies. To fight back, she summons a range of cursed knights to defend her and bring down the many gigantic bosses that scar the destroyed world of Land's End. It's a novel idea, one that may sound difficult in theory but with enough practice, the rhythm of battle quickly becomes natural so even the most brutal foe can be toppled with careful precision.
Unlike many other metroidvanias, Ender Lilies allows players to really influence the narrative with their decisions. The game boasts several unique endings that all hinge upon Lily's decisions, so those looking for a real role-playing experience should know that their choices will definitely have consequences. Aside from the compelling narrative and engaging combat, Ender Lilies also boasts a stunningly designed world, one that's brought to life with a grim art style that's compelling in its despairing beauty.
Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is undoubtedly a massive gain for PlayStation Plus subscribers in August but the fun doesn't have to end there. A sequel titled Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is currently in early access on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. While the game has yet to be completed, there's certainly enough that it should make for an excellent continuative if Ender Lilies leaves one wanting more.
