Sims 4 Lovestruck Update Has One Change That Makes The Game So Much More Immersive
Summary Lovestruck in The Sims 4 enhances background Sims' romantic interactions.
The pack adds authenticity to relationships in the game world.
Despite some quirks, the overall experience is a significant improvement.
Lovestruck changes The Sims 4 in a lot of ways, both big and small, and one tweak makes the world feel more alive than ever before. The focus on romance might make Lovestruck seem like it's best reserved for the biggest fans of relationships in The Sims 4, but love is often a core part of the average Sim's experience. Although the pack has its problems, its best elements definitely contribute a lot to the game in a way that makes it at least worthy of consideration.
Many of Lovestruck's changes are focused on player Sims, like making use of the Cupid's Corner dating app or setting romantic boundaries. A lot of what applies to a playable character also affects background Sims in the world, however, which is one area where Lovestruck can really shine. Making other Sims feel like more than decorations is a major part of a convincing life simulation experience, even if even the most detailed Sim behavior usually still ends up feeling silly.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Shows Off Townie Relationships
There's A Lot More Affection In The World
One big change in The Sims 4: Lovestruck lies in background Sims acting in more romantic ways, and a lot of couples throughout the world can be found participating in the same date actions available to players. Considering how many NPC characters tend to be in relationships in The Sims 4, this adjustment helps make that aspect of their lives feel a lot more legitimate than before. It's more authentic to the frequently noticeable presence of couples in real life, no matter how bitter the sight might be to the lovelorn.
Hiccups Don't Ruin The Improved Sims 4 Experience
The Aggressive Implementation Is A Bit Funny

Of course, the increase in romantic activities can still result in some funny Sims 4 scenarios, as exhibited in a Reddit post from user itsadesertplant. A screenshot shows five couples sitting in a row at an indoor swimming pool, with most of them pointing up at the skies to stargaze. Taking the environment into account, it makes for a pretty silly sight, and there's definitely a point to make that the new tendency toward romance in Lovestruck might occasionally be a bit overzealous.

Even so, the overall result is a marked improvement, and some tweaks down the line could always balance things if players find the romance too omnipresent. Looking past the most overtly romantic behavior, the change also helps to counteract how often Sims in relationships used to seem generally uninterested in each other. Couples are more likely to go out on the town together than before, resulting in a decrease in the amount of time that Townies spend with Sims other than their committed partners.
As cool as having more background romances, it's not the biggest change in Lovestruck. It is, however, one that hasn't been as thoroughly discussed and advertised as many other inclusion, and it could be the best The Sims 4: Lovestruck update to fly under the radar.
