Who The Best Wide Receivers In Madden NFL 25 Are
Summary Madden NFL 25 WR rankings are based on player performance stats like Tyreek Hill's impressive numbers.
EA Sports' rating system can spark debate, as seen with fans questioning rankings on social media.
Madden may also consider team performance, not just individual stats, when determining player overall ratings.
EA Sports recently revealed the stats for all the wide receivers from Madden NFL 25 and their overall stats. In Madden, passing plays present more of a risk for players. There is a chance that defenders will pick off the ball, causing an early turnover. Because of this, it’s important that players know which athletes they can trust to run their routes, get open, and catch the ball.
As is typical for the company, EA Sports doesn’t offer a full look at how they arrive at an individual player’s overall stats. This means that the previewed Madden NFL 25 ratings have been a little contentious. This isn’t too dissimilar to the reaction towards College Football 25’s list of best offenses, which was similarly previewed before release. Though some players might not be happy with these initial ratings, it’s important to remember that Madden’s weekly updates should theoretically help smooth out any inconsistencies.

The Top 10 Wide Receivers In Madden NFL 25
There Is Some Debate Over EA’s Choices
Player Team Overall Score Tyreek Hill Miami Dolphins 99 Justin Jefferson Minnesota Vikings 98 CeeDee Lamb Dallas Cowboys 96 A.J. Brown Philadelphia Eagles 95 Amon-Ra St. Brown Detroit Lions 95 Davante Adams Las Vegas Raiders 94 Ja'Marr Chase Cincinnati Bengals 93 Stefon Diggs Houston Texans 92 Brandon Aiyuk San Francisco 49ers 91 Mike Evans Tampa Bay Buccaneers 91
Along with their full rankings released on their website, EA also shared these top 10 picks for Wide Receivers on Twitter. Reactions to the picks were mixed, with many questioning why Justin Jefferson wasn’t considered as good as Tyreek Hill in terms of stats. That said, looking at a breakdown of stats from the 2023 season makes it clear why EA made the choice it did.
Hill beat out Jefferson in every metric except yards per reception last year. Since hard stats like this are one of the easiest ways for EA to determine player rankings, it isn’t surprising to see the top spot go to the player who put more numbers on the board. It also seems these stats are tracked year to year, as Jefferson was a 99 overall ranking in last year’s Madden, but dropped a point this year.
How Madden NFL 25 Chooses Its Top Players
Madden Seemingly Uses Individual Stats And Other Metrics
While comparing Tyreek Hill’s stats to Justin Jefferson’s would make it seem that individual stats alone determine which players have higher rankings, some of the other top 10 picks bring this into question. For instance, Tampa’s Mike Evans had less yards, and less receptions than the Bears’ DJ Moore. It could be that overall team performance also factors into a player’s overall ranking in Madden, since the Bears had a worse record than Tampa. Some individual players may need to be nerfed a bit to make their team’s overall score more reflective of their performance.
Come September, it will be much more clear if Madden NFL 25’s rankings reflect the real NFL season, or if these rankings will need to be adjusted in the future. Like with anything sports-related, predictions can only be so accurate, and there will always be players who surprise fans. As long as EA Sports makes an effort to keep the game up to date, then any issues with these initial rankings should be smoothed out.
