Warning! Spoilers ahead for Green Arrow #13!Green Arrow might be throwing everything away, but the perfect person to replace him is already picking up his bow and arrow. Oliver Queen makes a shocking decision and goes all-in on Amanda Waller's plans to take down Earth's metahumans. Fortunately, a familiar face isn't going to let the Green Arrow legacy die.

In Green Arrow #13 by Joshua Williamson and Amancay Nahuelpan, Oliver leaves his family on Arrow Island to continue working for Amanda Waller in the Hall of Order. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Cheshire Cat break into Belle Reve North to break out Lian's mother Jade. Unfortunately, Arsenal runs into Green Arrow, who reveals his new alliance.

Oliver reveals he's giving up his life as a hero just before his allies make their escape. Back on Arrow Island, Roy relays Oliver's message. As news of superhero attacks breaks, Oliver's son Connor Hawke picks up the Green Arrow mantle for himself.

Oliver Queen is Out as Green Arrow, and Connor Hawke is In

After traveling all over time and space, Green Arrow finally made it back home and reunited with his family. However, it wasn't long before Oliver went after the person who was partially responsible for keeping him away from his family: Amanda Waller. Queen sought Waller out at the Hall of Order, but Waller revealed that she wanted to make a deal with the archer instead. Waller was planning a war against metahumans and in exchange for a few select missions to help her out, Waller promised to keep Green Arrow's family safe and that she wouldn't separate them again.

It's hard to see a scenario where Green Arrow is actually going all-in on working with Amanda Waller. But at the very least, Queen's credibility is taking a serious hit (especially for a hero who's solidly been a man of the people for years). But even if Oliver succeeds in destroying his reputation, the Green Arrow name will live on just fine. Connor Hawke served as the DC Universe's sole Emerald Archer for years when Oliver was dead. Queen may be set on ruining his life, but Connor is the perfect person to keep Green Arrow's name in good graces.

Connor is the Green Arrow the DC Universe Needs Right Now

Who knows what Oliver Queen is thinking right now? But whatever his reason for working with Waller is, Oliver knows it's not something Green Arrow needs to be associated with. Connor may not like or understand his father's choice. But he knows the Green Arrow name is too valuable to let Oliver's actions corrupt it. The DC Universe doesn't need Oliver to keep his legacy alive. Connor was a great Green Arrow once and now that Oliver's stepping to the side, Conner will be great in the role again.
