Massive Elden Ring DLC Exploit Lets Players Simply Walk Through The Sky
Summary Discover the 'Sleepwalking' exploit for a massive time save in Elden Ring DLC speedruns.
Be prepared for the precision required to maintain the glitch and skip tough areas.
While tempting, remember to embrace the challenge and growth in facing Elden Ring's brutal content.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree players looking to speedrun the DLC or simply avoid some of the expansion's more punishing areas should pay attention to this massive exploit. When it comes to speedrunning, one should never underestimate the community given how talented many runners are at discovering strange secrets and glitches that allow them to skip whole chunks of a game. Elden Ring is one such game that's so massive that anyone looking to complete it in as brief a time as possible needs to constantly be on the lookout for new routes.
Per GamesRadar+, a player by the name of Joo discovered the exploit which has been dubbed the "Sleepwalking" strategy since it requires players to build up the Sleep status effect to interrupt the animation of summoning Torrent. After doing that, the Tarnished will enter a state of "limited no-gravity" so they can technically walk on air as long as they don't idle, so blocking with one's shield is used to maintain the state. It's incredibly precise and a single mistake will simply reset players back to where they first triggered the glitch but done correctly, it's a massive time save.

Unless You're A Speedrunner, Of Course

As exciting as it can be to defy gravity and walk on air, "Sleepwalking" isn't a way for players to explore Shadow of the Erdtree at will given that it only allows users to move forward or backward. If The Tarnished manages to touch a new piece of ground, they'll be placed at that point if the game is reset, which is a great way to skip over some of the more time-consuming areas. Having said that, if you're not a speedrunner, then it's not worth bypassing some of Elden Ring's best content.
While it may sound like a good idea for anyone struggling to make it through a particular section, the glitch is incredibly difficult to trigger and even more challenging to maintain. Besides, half the fun of Elden Ring is overcoming the game's brutal challenges, so it's best to learn and grow rather than avoid them. Shadow of the Erdtree has earned a reputation for being especially punishing but with enough practice, even the most colossal enemy will fall.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the one and only expansion FromSoftware is releasing for its 2022 RPG and while that may be disappointing to some, it's inarguably a fantastic way to say goodbye. A massive experience that's littered with secrets to unearth and enemies to smite, the speedrunning community has quickly adapted to adding the extra bosses to pre-established routes. It's still early days, so expect some major records to be set in the coming months.
