Summary Missy's return in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will showcase a rebellious side as she copes with losing her dad in Young Sheldon.

Georgie takes on the role of caretaker for Missy as she struggles with her grief, balancing marriage and family in the spinoff series.

Missy's troubled behavior in the new show is in line with The Big Bang Theory canon, setting up emotional challenges for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

Missy will be different when she returns in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage post-Young Sheldon, showrunner Steve Holland reveals. A couple of months after the Young Sheldon finale aired, Chuck Lorre and his team are back on set for the next expansion series in The Big Bang Theory universe. This time, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will continue Montana Jordan and Emily Osment's new lives. The McAllisters will be more prominently featured in the new spinoff sequel, with Mandy's parents, Jim and Audrey being series regulars. That said, the Coopers will also have some presence, including Missy.

Teasing what to expect from Revord's return as George and Mary's only daughter in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Holland teases Missy will be different from the last time she was on Young Sheldon in a new interview with TV Insider. She will continue to deal with the impact of losing her dad, and unfortunately, the way she grieves, won't be the healthiest to handle it. Read his full quote below:

“We’re going to see a slightly different Missy. She’s gone through the loss of her dad and she’s acting out. She’s [becoming] rebellious.” That’s one of the challenges Georgie will be dealing with as the now-eldest man in the family. “He’s trying to balance being a husband and a father and also being a caretaker to his sister, who’s having some struggles."

How The Young Sheldon Finale Sets Up Missy's Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Change

George's Death Derailed Missy's Redemption

Young Sheldon's penultimate episode ended with the revelation that George unexpectedly died of a heart attack while at work. The first half of the series-capper was devoted to tackling the fallout from that tragedy, showing how the Coopers were dealing with the sudden loss of their patriarch. While Georgie stepped up to take care of his father's affairs and Sheldon tried running away from his grief, Missy resorted to lashing out. Throughout the finale, her mood was up and down, but per Holland's new reveal, there is no redemption for her in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

As heartbreaking as this is for those who root for Missy, this part of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage's story is mandated by The Big Bang Theory canon.

As heartbreaking as this is for those who root for Missy, this part of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage's story is mandated by The Big Bang Theory canon. During Georgie and Sheldon's emotional confrontation just before the socially-inept genius got married to Amy, his older brother revealed that he took care of the family after George died. Mary was unable to function because she was crippled by grief. Meanwhile, Missy was being a dumb teenager. He had to oversee the Coopers while also taking care of his own family, although he didn't mention the latter part in the nerd-centric sitcom.

It's unfortunate that Missy will continue down this path in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Multiple times throughout Young Sheldon's run, she proved that she was the best Cooper sibling, and yet, she ended up being the least successful among the three. Whether she will get some kind of redemption in the new show is uncertain thus far. Luckily, she has Georgie by his side to support him.
