Pokémon TCG Reveals New September Set & Shows Off First Cards

Summary Paradise Dragona, a new Japan-exclusive Pokémon TCG set, is set to be released on Sept. 13, 2024 with over 54 cards.

Speculation suggests that cards from Paradise Dragona may be included in the Surging Sparks English expansion.

While most Japanese release cards eventually get English releases, there is no guarantee every card from Paradise Dragona will be available.

As the Pokémon Trading Card Game continues to receive new releases, several of the cards that will be in an upcoming set, scheduled for a September 2024 release, have been revealed. As just one of the many facets of Pokémon-related media, the TCG has been ongoing almost as long as the franchise itself, and continues to update with new cards, sets, and themed decks with each new mainline generation and region - with Scarlet and Violet's Paldea being the most recent focus for TCG expansions.

As shown by a fan-run account, @PokeGuardian on X, the newest Japan-exclusive Pokémon TCG set, Paradise Dragona, has been officially revealed. As is further detailed on the PokeGuardian website, the set is scheduled to be released on September 13, 2024, and will consist of over 54 cards, with a currently unknown amount of SR or better cards included. Some previewed cards include Alolan Exeggutor ex, Latias ex, Dialga, Gouging Fire, supporter cards for Drayton and Lisia, and a new Affluence Energy ACE SPEC card.

Will Paradise Dragona Get An English Release?

Cards From Paradise Dragona Might Be Included In An English TCG Expansion

Although no official announcements have been made, it's likely that most, if not all, of the cards in Paradise Dragona will be released in English in the Surging Sparks expansion set to release in November. The current speculation is that Surging Sparks will be made up of several Japan-exclusive sets, including Paradise Dragona and the previously revealed Supercharged Breaker set, which is scheduled for an October release.

Unfortunately, however, there are no guarantees that every card from Paradise Dragona will be made available in English. Although the majority of cards now receive international releases, there are still a fair number of cards that have never been released outside of Japan, making them difficult to collect for overseas fans. These include cards like "Hungry Snorlax" (originally released in Japan in 1997) which, for whatever reason, have never received an English translation or release.

For the most part, however, cards that are initially released in Japan tend to get English releases at a later date, and it's more likely than not that at least most of Paradise Dragona will be present in a future English expansion. Currently, it's speculated that the set will be one of several making up the Surging Sparks expansion, scheduled for a November release, but until more information on that expansion is unveiled, it's uncertain how and when the cards from the most recently announced Pokémon TCG set will make their way out of Japan.
