Many of Netflix's best shows have short lifespans, and if Unstable season 2 doesn't perform well enough, it could easily be axed.

With the second season of Unstable still so new, it isn't a shock that Netflix hasn't made a decision regarding its future yet. The first season was modestly well-received, but it's difficult to know exactly the scope of its performance because of how tight-lipped the streamer can be with its viewership data. Clearly, the series did something right to score a renewal amid a slew of cancelations during the Hollywood strikes, but a third season isn't guaranteed. Having successfully dodged legal ramifications from his actions during season 1, season 2 of Unstable saw Ellis continue to psychologically manipulate Jackson. However, Jackson was also trapped in the machinations of Georgia, and caught up in the genuine ambition of Peter. Having been passed over in favor of Peter, Jackson may finally get the chance to leave the life his father wants for him behind.

Meanwhile, Ellis continued his narcissistic ways and ended season 2 by making the decision to run for the Presidency of the United States. Ellis' campaign will likely take up the bulk of season 3's story, and he will probably call on Jackson for support (both emotionally and as a campaign worker). Whatever happens in season, Unstable season 3 will likely live up to its name.
