Warning: Contains spoilers for Green Arrow #13!!

The DC Universe has an abundance of complicated relationships and ill-conceived love affairs, yet few are as laced with tragedy as the relationship Green Arrow’s former protege, Arsenal, shares with Cheshire. The two have experienced many ups-and-downs, notably with the death of their young daughter, Lian Harper. However, with Lian’s return comes a reunion, and the little family are together again – at least briefly.

In Green Arrow #13 – written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Amancay Nahuelpan – Roy Harper and Lian, currently known as the vigilante "Shoes", stage a Belle Reve break in to rescue Lian's mother. Cheshire is alive, though injured, and the three have a brief reunion before it's cut short by Oliver Queen's arrival.

Roy and Jade rarely maintain a relationship for long, but their attraction to one another tends to resurface quickly when they're together. They'll never be a traditional family, but Arsenal, Cheshire, and Lian Harper may not go their separate ways any time soon.

No one in the DC Universe is a stranger to tragedy, yet Lian Harper's tragic "end" had an enormous impact...The revelation that Lian was never dead at all changes circumstances for all of them.

Many relationships depend on chemistry over sense, and Roy Harper and Jade Nguyen certainly fit that bill. Jade has spent her life unapologetically as the villain, Cheshire, while Harper typically operates more from the heroic side of the line. Though he's not adverse to bending plenty of rule – evidenced by his time as one of the Outlaws with Jason Todd, and returning to bust Jade out of Belle Reve in the first place – he hardly sees eye to eye with Cheshire. Having a daughter still tied the two of them together, and her death didn't completely sever that connection.

No one in the DC Universe is a stranger to tragedy, yet Lian Harper's tragic "end" had an enormous impact. Her death sent Arsenal into a downward spiral through addiction and depression. Cheshire left Lian to be raised by her father, but she mourned her daughter's death, too, and her occasional encounters with Roy had both of them seeking equal parts conflict and solace in each other. The revelation that Lian was never dead at all changes circumstances for all of them. She clearly supports her parents reuniting, and the three of them together would make an impressive team.

Even if there's no romance in the future for Roy and Jade, working together with their daughter is still in the cards.

Although Jade and Roy rarely fight on the same side, their escape from Belle Reve proves they still work well together, and Lian has developed skills of her own as she grew up. The three make quick work of escaping the prison until Ollie's interference. Even if there's no romance in the future for Roy and Jade, working together with their daughter is still in the cards. That's a lot of quick thinking and resourcefulness all in one place, and Arsenal, Cheshire, and Lian Harper's reunion may be key to understanding what's happening with Green Arrow and Amanda Waller.
