Captain Sandy Yawn's tactic for dealing with her crew's poor performance on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 appears to be damage control and shifting fans' attention, and it might be working. The stalwart captain has had her fair share of crew issues aboard the Mustique. While Chief Stew Aesha Scott is a star as always, the same can't be said for the rest of the crew. Bosun Iain Maclean's firing is long overdue, and the feud between Bri Muller and Elena Dubaich has led to drama in the laundry and beyond.

Chef Jono Shillingford's performance early on in the charter was the worst, but he's since improved his culinary skills. Captain Sandy is known for giving crew members second and third chances, but the crew's issues are out of control. Bri and Ellie can't seem to launder a pair of white pants and Iain's messing up basic docking maneuvers, charter after charter. In the wake of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9's criticism, Captain Sandy is focused on being likable offscreen.
