Evil Ending With Season 4 Gets Intriguing Response From Leland Actor: "It's A Little Dizzying...This Is A Good 4 To Go Out On"

Warning: Some SPOILERS lie ahead for Evil season 4!

Summary Michael Emerson shares his mixed feelings on Evil's early ending after season 4, expressing a "dizzying" reaction to the news.

The Leland actor does assure fans that despite the show's abrupt ending, the writers have crafted a fitting conclusion for season 4.

The creative team behind Evil have apparently left loose ends in the finale, hinting at the potential for a revival in the future, especially with its success on Netflix.

Audiences aren't the only ones dismayed by Evil ending with season 4, though Michael Emerson also has a brighter outlook on the show's impending finale. The supernatural drama has enjoyed an interesting life on screen, beginning as a CBS show before making the leap to Paramount+ with season 2. The jump didn't affect the show's run, though, as both Evil seasons 3 and 4 have seen the highest reviews with perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes scores, but the streamer still made the decision to axe the show, leaving creators Robert and Michelle King enough time to craft a finale.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant for the final season, Michael Emerson shared his thoughts on Evil season 4. The Leland actor admitted to it feeling "a little dizzying to have an abbreviated ending", though did promise that the writers put in the work to make the final episodes satisfactory, and assured fans of the show will be very pleased. See what Emerson shared below:

Well, it's a little dizzying to have an abbreviated ending kind of thrust upon you. But our writers made hay out of it, I think. And if you have to go out and four, this is a good four to go out on, because they made some stuff happen. And they did that seemingly impossible job of wrapping things up, but not too tightly.

Fervor has been high among audiences since the announcement that Evil would be ending with season 4, particularly as the show has been gaining some promising ground in Netflix's viewership rankings since joining the streamer's library ahead of the final season's premiere. While it was never made clear how far into the future the Kings had planned for the show, the gradual build-up to the Antichrist's birth and impending apocalypse did seem to point towards at least another season or two's worth of story to tell.

Audiences aren't the only ones frustrated by the cancellation, as Emerson's Evil co-stars Katja Herbers, Andrea Martin and Kurt Fuller have all also shared their disappointment with the decision, with Martin recently discussing with Screen Rant her additional frustration over the show's lack of Emmy nominations. Despite this understandable frustration, Emerson's assurances of the show delivering a fitting ending is sure to come as a promising sign for audiences. Nailing a series finale is no easy task, particularly when given an abbreviated time to wrap up a show's plotlines.

Emerson's note that Evil season 4's ending does "not too tightly" close out the show is also a promising sign of the chances of it getting a revival at some point in the future. Considering its subsequent Netflix success, the door is open for the streamer to consider backing a new season of the supernatural drama, and if there are indeed plot threads left open, as Emerson indicates, the Kings may have enough room for Emerson and his co-stars to get to return for more.

New episodes of Evil season 4 air Thursdays on Paramount+.
