McConaughey has been loosely attached to the Yellowstone universe since 2023, and he was short-listed to star in the Yellowstone sequel. However, it was revealed in August 2024 that the sequel is a separate property from The Madison, and stars like McConaughey, Kurt Russell, and Michelle Pfeiffer were actually in talks to star in the latter.

The series will follow the Clyburn family as they relocate to Montana following the tragic death of their patriarch in a plane accident. Though the synopsis doesn't introduce a conflict, it isn't hard to see how the family could quickly get involved in trouble. If the show is a spinoff of Yellowstone, the Clyburns could run into many of the same problems that plagued the Dutton family, or they could even run afoul of the Duttons themselves.
