What Time House Of The Dragon's Season 2 Finale Releases
Summary House of the Dragon season 2 finale airs at 9 pm ET on HBO & Max
The final episode lengthens to 73 minutes.
The second season has 8 episodes instead of season 1's 10 due to creative choices.
House of the Dragon season 2, episode 8 will conclude the season after two months in which the Dance of the Dragons continued to escalate. When HBO announced that the Targaryen civil war described in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood was going to be made into a series, it was clear that it would take more than one season to adapt it. While the Dance of the Dragons is not as extensive as the events from A Song of Ice and Fire, it has proven to be a very complex story that can make for great television.
Now that Rhaenyra has found riders for all of Team Black’s dragons, Viserys' oldest child is ready for war. Even Aemond, who rides Vhagar, knew that he could not take on Rhaenyra and her allies on his own. While the dragons will continue to play a major role in the Dance, the war also continues on the ground. There are many moving pieces in House of the Dragon leading up to the season 2 finale, from Daemon’s quest in Harrenhal to the Hightower host marching to the Riverlands.

House Of The Dragon Season 1 Had 10 Episodes
via HBO
It can be surprising that House of the Dragon season 2, episode 8 will be the season finale considering that the first season had 10 episodes. The reason why House of the Dragon season 2 has fewer episodes is a creative one. Showrunner Ryan Condal wanted to give it “a good opening and a good ending” while not having to bring the episodes’ runtimes down as revealed by director Clare Kilner (via THR). House of the Dragon season 3 is confirmed, though, meaning whatever cliffhangers and teases happen in the season 2 finale will be paid off eventually.
