How To Find The Walleye In Stardew Valley

Wait For The Rain To Fall

The Walleye can be found in a few different places throughout Stardew Valley. Before going on the hunt, you’ll need to be aware of the conditions favored by this fish. First, the Walleye is a fall-specific fish, though it's possible to catch it when using a Rain Totem during winter. The Walleye can also be caught at any time using Magic Bait, which can now be made using the Bait Maker, a cool new accessory from patch 1.6. Second, the Walleye can only be caught between the hours of 12 p.m. and 2 a.m., and only when it’s raining.

Even with these conditions, it is possible to find the Walleye elsewhere. You can find a Walleye randomly inside garbage cans around Pelican Town during both fall and winter. The Traveling Cart sometimes sells Walleyes, too. The final way to get the Walleye, besides through fishing, is by befriending a pet cat to max friendship. The cat then has a chance to gift the Walleye.

The Traveling Cart appears in Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays until 8 p.m. and sells many items. The Walleye may be sold here, with a price ranging from 315g to 1,000g.

Walleye Fishing Locations

Head To Cindersap Forest

Unlike catching legendary fish, the Walleye isn't too difficult to come by. The Walleye can be found in several bodies of water throughout Stardew Valley, including rivers, lakes, and ponds. If you choose the Riverland or Forest Farm, you can catch the Walleye in your farm’s pond. Otherwise, you’ll have to venture away from your farm to catch one. While some might find it a chore to find the Walleye, there is a fishing mod that will make it somewhat easier.

The first and best location to find the Walleye is Cindersap Forest. You’ll have the most luck fishing for the Walleye in this pond, with a 32% chance. To reach Cindersap Forest, head south from your farm. To the west is where you’ll find the pond. If you head further south, you’ll find the Cindersap Forest river, which also has Walleye.

The next location is Pelican Town. Head east from the farm or Cindersap Forest, and you’ll reach Pelican Town. Go east or south to find the river. The river runs long, so there will be plenty of choices for a good fishing spot.

Last is the Mountain Lake. To reach the Mountain in Stardew Valley, head north from the farm and then east. You can also travel north through Pelican Town. Once at the Mountain, head east to find the lake.

Walleye have many uses in Stardew Valley. Catching them will help complete the Night Fishing Bundle and the Quality Fish Bundle in the Community Center. They can also be used in recipes like the Maki Roll and Sashimi and to complete delivery quests posted on the bulletin board outside of Pierre’s General Store. No matter the reason for needing this fish, finding and catching the Walleye in Stardew Valley is easy once you understand where to look.
