Marvel Rivals: How To Play Black Panther Guide (Abilities, Ultimate, Tips & Tricks)

Black Panther is one of the most popular heroes to use in Marvel Rivals due to his smooth and sleek speed-based abilities and fast-paced attacks. While he has a great variety of attacks, many of which rely on his mobility for effective close-quarter damage, he is one of the most complex fighters to utilize effectively.

As one of the hardest Duelists to play, using Black Panther requires a deep understanding of his attacks, how they work, and how to use them to get the best damage potential out of him. Moreover, survival is just as integral, and using the wrong move can significantly punish players. However, mastering his abilities and combos makes him extremely rewarding in combat.

As Marvel Rivals is in beta, some features for Black Panther may change when the game's full release launches.

Black Panther Features & Abilities In Marvel Rivals

Combat Moveset

Black Panther is a top-tier character in Marvel Rivals. As a Duelist with a complex and skilled fighting style, he is one of the few challenging DPS options in the game. Players are obliged to use every aspect of his roster to get the best potential out of him in the arena, making him fairly tricky but rewarding to use in combat.

Overall, his main objective is to deal damage, and score kills quickly, considering that he has a small health pool of 300 HP. His attacks are also at fairly close range, which can be quite risky when you have little health. Due to these concerns, players should use the game's Practice Range to learn Black Panther's toolkit as much as possible to be effective in combat while keeping themselves safe.

The table below showcases an overview of Black Panther's abilities in combat and their effects, requiring a lot of dashing around to deal damage while surviving. Mobility is just as important as offense:

Ability Effect How To Activate Vibranium Claws Black Panther performs powerful, sharp slashes via his Vibranium Claws, dealing decent damage. LMB/R2/RT Spear Toss Hurl a Vibranium Spear toward your target, generating a Vibranium Force Field and leaving a Vibranium Mark upon contact. RMB/L2/LT Spinning Kick Black Panther launches himself forward with a brutal kick, attaching a Vibranium Mark to his opposition upon contact. E/L1/LB Sprint Rend Black Panther leaps forward and deals damage to his targets. If the target has a Vibranium Mark on it, Black Panther gains a boost in health, which Sprint Rend instantly replenishes. LSHIFT/R1/RB

Ability Effect How To Activate Subtle Step Allows Black Panther to run up walls by holding SPACE/X/A after jumping onto the wall. SPACE/X/A Bast's Descent Black Panther summons Bast, a towering panther that attacks with wide AoE damage in front of him, dealing massive damage and attaching Vibranium Marks on all targets hit. This action also refreshes Sprint Rend. Q/L3+R3 Panther's Cunning Whenever Black Panther's health gets low, his damage output will increase. Passive Wakandan Master If Magik is on Black Panther's team, they use Limbo Discs to create portals, allowing them to traverse the arena faster and more efficiently. Team-Up Ability

As the table shows, movement is crucial for Black Panther's survival and effectiveness. Players should often rely on his Sprint Rent ability in Marvel Rivals; otherwise, he will not perform well in combat.

How To Play As Black Panther In Marvel Rivals

Recommended Teams

Crafting a team in Marvel Rivals is just as important as selecting your individual character. Teams are there for support and offer abilities in offense or defense that you either excel in, making you stronger, or fill in for anything you lack so that you can defeat your enemies together for a swift victory. Fortunately, Black Panther synergizes well with most other characters, allowing your team flexibility and choice.

Luna Snow, for example, can provide constant healing methods, even while Black Panther speedily runs around the battlefield. Another option to consider is playing with Magik in Marvel Rivals due to the Wakandan Master Team-up ability.

Recommended Combos

While Black Panther has several ranged options, most of his attacks are at close quarters, so using the right combos while dashing head-first into combat is important to apply his offense to opponents. Before diving in, trigger Vibranium Marks to make it easier for you to flee. Some of the best combos are listed below that you should practice in the Practice Range:

Spear Toss > Spinning Kick > Vibranium Claws > Sprint Rend > Sprint Rend

Spear Toss > Spinning Kick > Sprint Rend > Spear Toss > Sprint Rend > Vibranium Claws > Sprint Rend

Spear Toss > Spinning Kick > Sprint Rend > Sprint Rend > Bast's Descent > Spear Toss > Spinning Kick > Sprint Rend > Vibranium Claws > Sprint Rend

While using Vibranium Claws is one of the more complex skills to throw into combos, using it with Spear Toss will add another Vibranium Mark onto your opponent. This will allow you to use another Sprint Rent as it regenerates and even a third one to dodge.

Combat Strategy & Tips

While there is a lot of agility and movement, getting used to it will mean you become practically untouchable, applying pressure to targets. Knowing when to flee and when to hit is part of being an effective Black Panther fighter, so keep this in mind when selecting him.

Make sure to use your climbing and horizontal mobility to scale areas that are otherwise inaccessible for most grounded adversaries, giving you the advantage. This will open a window of opportunity for flanking and executing last-minute combos, which is especially effective against enemies with smaller health pools.

Those playing with Black Panther must be mindful that he is at a disadvantage against ranged heroes in Marvel Rivals. Close combat is your main fighting strategy. Always engage Spear Toss from a range while Vibranium Mark is attached to your foes, as mentioned in the combos. You can also use your mobility to get behind opponents and quickly eliminate them before dashing away.

Black Panther's Ultimate

Using Black Panther's Ultimate ability, Bast's Descent grants Black Panther replenishing bonuses and deals an AoE-based attack. His summoned bast also attaches ViBastium Marks to all targets and replenishes Black Panther's Spring Rend.

Due to this, it should be incorporated into your combos and would be most effective when used after your first refreshed Sprint Rent, creating space between you and your enemies, as shown in the third combo.

It should not be used sparingly, as otherwise you may not be able to replenish your speed when you most need it, causing your demise. To get the most out of this Ultimate, reserve it to use alongside your and your teammate's abilities, making you one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Rivals universe.
