Today's Connections Category Hints

AUGUST 6 #421

While you daydream about what wishes you are going to make using your precious dandelion, you can consider these hints for today's categories:

One category is about a color group

One category is about who is involved

One category is about contrarians

One category is about a word that can define them all

This makes the categories span quite a range today and potentially make the puzzle easier or harder. There are a lot of nouns today, which can be some of the harder puzzles since it's harder to distinguish them. The last category is, as it always is, semi-confusing unit you know the trick.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

FLUFFY WHITE THINGS CLOUD COTTON BALL DANDELION SHEEP

The tricky part about this category today is that not all of these things are white and fluffy all the time. In fact, a DANDELION is only white and fluffy for a very short time before it gets blown away by the wind, and sheep are often a variety of different colors.

Even so, there are a couple of other categories you can get first, and with the field of words narrowed down, linking those two words with CLOUD and COTTON BALL will be a lot easier.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

ONE IN A RESEARCH STUDY GUINEA PIG PARTICIPANT SUBJECT VOLUNTEER

This one might be the easiest of the categories today, because while it is still a category full of nouns, they are a bit more grounded theme-wise. The one that might throw this off is SHEEP, as they are also often used as a SUBJECT in research as well.

This might not be so much the case today, but Dolly the Sheep is a very famous example of when they were and could confuse things. However, sheep simply does not work as well as PARTICIPANT or VOLUNTEER.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

TAKE ISSUE DISAPPROVE MIND OBJECT PROTEST

This category is also a bit easier than the others, as it has a couple of verbs to help players catch the right scent. While some of them can be nouns or verbs, such as MIIND and OBJECT, DISAPPROVE is the word to look at in order to solve the puzzle successfully. It is the only word that does not have a different meaning as a noun, and it gives away the whole theme of the category for today. PROTEST can go either way as well, but depending on your experience it might be more familiar as a verb.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

____ HORN BULL FOG MATTER SHOE

SHOE horns may not be used as much anymore, and both MATTERhorn and BULLhorn are actually one word instead of two. That is a bit pedantic, but it is something I noticed when seeing the final answer. It can make this category a bit more difficult, but hopefully, you were able to solve it last and not worry about whether you understood the category or not. I do sometimes find these types of categories in Connections odd for some of the variance, but today the space between the words does not matter as much as it has other times.
