McDonald's toy collectors will want to check out this new range of Pokémon toys because they're not only adorable but they're a wonderful celebration of summertime fun. McDonald's and Pokémon have often collaborated in the past, with many children flocking to the fast-food chain to unbox a toy Pikachu or miniature Squirtle. This latest campaign is more likely to appeal to those fans of Scarlet & Violet than the original generation given that it shines the spotlight on more recent pocket monsters and a new iteration of a fan favorite.
Per the official McDonald's Japan website, August will see the launch of two waves of new Pokémon Happy Meal toys, the first of which runs from August 9 to August 15 and includes Captain Pikachu's Waterwheel, Terrapagos Poké Ball Watering Can, Fuecoco's Water Wheel, and Sprigatito's Tool Set. The second wave features Quaxley's Water Gun, Captain Pikachu's Rolling Roller, Sprigatito's Telescope, and a Poké Ball Compass, and will run from August 16 to August 22. It's currently unknown if these Happy Meal toys will be exclusive to Japan or if they'll eventually come to the United States.

It's A Good Year For Pokémon Fans
Plenty Of Upcoming Adventures
While McDonald's Japan's latest line of Pokémon toys is likely just a simple event to encourage children to make the most of the final days of summer with water-based fun, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate Game Freak's iconic franchise. 2024 will see the release of Pokémon TCG Pocket, a mobile version of the beloved trading card game that's managed to keep the world enthralled for over two decades. While a release date has yet to be confirmed, The Pokémon Company has stated it will be available before the end of 2024.
Speaking of the Pokémon TCG, the game is continually growing with more sets and expansions with the latest, Shrouded Fable, having dropped as recently as August 2. A couple more sets are slated to arrive before the end of 2024, namely Stellar Crown and Surging Sparks in September and November, respectively. Beyond these, 2025 is already mapped out with five different sets launching throughout the year to ensure that collectors always have something to anticipate.
Finally, those Pokémon fans actively looking for the next major video game in the franchise need only brace themselves for 2025. Game Freak has confirmed that the long-awaited next installment in the Legends spinoff, Z-A, will release next year with more information coming closer to launch. All of these new products combined with McDonald's latest line of Happy Meals means the Pokémon community should be content for the next year or so.
