Starfield Player Manages To Improve One Of The Game's Most Controversial Factions
Summary Nexus Mods user Nell Drakebane released a free "Faction Story Expansion" for Starfield's Trackers Alliance, adding new quests.
The mod is designed for lower-level characters but promises future updates with features like Vendor NPCs and more dungeons.
Fans expressed concern over additional bounties needing to be purchased, accusing Bethesda of further monetizing the game.
While many Starfield players were excited to see the Trackers Alliance expanded through the launch of the Creation Kit, one fan opted to release an entire expansion for the faction that didn't require additional payments. Those who fancy themselves intergalactic bounty hunters will likely have already worked for the Trackers Alliance, a group of tough-as-nails fighters who make it their mission to bring down anyone with a price on their head. It's a fun faction, but having several quests locked behind a paywall left a bad taste in many players' mouths.
It may not be an official expansion, but Nexus Mods user Nell Drakebane may have a solution to the limited roster of Tracker Alliance missions with their "Faction Story Expansion" add-on. The mod adds a series of new quests to those already available through the bounty hunter's guild with each one serving as a step to completing the overall storyline. Going by the information discovered on the slate for "Bounty 01," players will be sent on a journey to clear out several dungeons filled with tough enemies, a boss, and a Fraud Capitalist.

It Sets A Dangerous Precedent

It's worth noting that the "Faction Story Expansion" mod is designed for lower-level characters, so anyone over Level 10 may find the new questline to be a bit of a pushover. Having said that, it's still fun to bring down bounties in Starfield, especially when Drakebane promises that their mod is just getting started. While there are no confirmed plans to flesh out the mod, they do state that they're hoping to include features like Vendor NPCs and even more dungeons.
As exciting as it was to see Bethesda officially grow the Trackers Alliance with Starfield's June update, fans also expressed concern about how it was handled. While several quests were provided to all players for free, additional bounties needed to be purchased from the Creations Shop for extra money, serving as a microtransaction in a paid-for game. Users were quick to accuse Bethesda of simply chopping up straightforward questlines as a means of further monetizing Starfield, leading to complaints about the purpose of the Creation Kit.
Bethesda has continued to release small cosmetic packs through Starfield's Creations Shop but no additional story content has been sold as a microtransaction. Whether the community's feedback regarding the Trackers Alliance was heard remains unknown but it's good to know that fans are least able to provide free alternative expansions. When in doubt, the modding community usually saves the day.
