Upcoming Sims 4 Patch Promises To Fix The Game's Biggest Problems
Summary The Lovestruck DLC for The Sims 4 has brought more problems than fixes, with players reporting crashes and unplayable saves.
Maxis is working on a patch targeting error code incidents, missing interactions, and other issues.
Despite initial efforts to squash bugs with a hotfix, many players are calling for resources to be focused on a new Sims sequel.
Despite all the hype surrounding The Sims 4's latest expansion Lovestruck, players haven't been too impressed with the state of the game, an issue Maxis will hopefully remedy with its next patch. Lovestruck may have added a wealth of new systems and mechanics that the community has spent years requesting but the free update for the base game, which dropped alongside the DLC, unfortunately rendered several parts of the title unplayable. Users have complained about everything from minor problems like Sims being uncharacteristically unkind to major issues like crashes deleting entire saves.
Posted to X (formerly Twitter) by the official Sims communication channel, Maxis confirmed that it is "working on an update that targets several reports" that were filed shortly after Lovestruck's release.
The patch is specifically targeting error code incidents, missing interactions, and distorted glasses' frames but more bugs will likely be included in the final release. While a specific launch date for the patch was not specified, the post did confirm that players can expect it to drop next week so it should be live before August 16.

What's Happening With Sims 4: Lovestruck?
It's Been A Chaotic Launch

After Lovestruck's launch, The Sims 4 community exploded with complaints that the accompanying free update managed to fundamentally break the game. Several users reported incidents of legacy save files being corrupted by an unknown error, resulting in the loss of hundreds of hours of gameplay. Glitches were also commonplace, with one of the more bizarrely frequent ones being a bug which made Sims more likely to form romantic feelings towards a family member, prompting widespread complaints.
For the most part, Maxis was relatively quick to respond by dropping a small hotfix to tweak some aspects of Lovestruck to ensure that several systems worked correctly. Having said that, the game is still currently riddled with bugs and is largely unstable, leading many players to request that Maxis cease development on The Sims 4 and place resources into a dedicated sequel. The current iteration of the franchise is undoubtedly bloated as it's sitting with a decade's worth of content that's seemingly weighing down any meaningful changes to the formula.
One can only hope that Maxis is able to salvage Lovestruck and deliver fans The Sims 4 experience they're so desperately craving. With reports swirling that The Sims 5 has been shelved, it remains to be seen how much gas is left in the fourth game's tank. Another Lovestruck-like debacle could spell bad news for the beloved life sim.
