Zelda: TOTK Players Just Made The Master Sword Completely Unstoppable (Without Mods)
Summary Fans can now obtain an unbreakable Master Sword in TOTK through a complex series of glitches and exploits.
The process involves manipulating the game's logic to bring the powerful sword from the Prologue to the main save.
While a challenging hour-long process, the reward of an "unbreakable" Master Sword makes it worth the effort for dedicated players.
Those Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players who long to obtain the Prologue's ever-powerful Master Sword are in luck because a group of dedicated fans found an elaborate way to gain the best version of the iconic blade. While Link can wield the Master Sword for most of TOTK, the standard version of the weapon is limited by its energy consumption; while it won't break, it can be depleted, requiring a lengthy waiting period to recharge. Yet the version seen in the Prologue needs no such rest, making it instantly desirable.
Over on YouTube, creator El Duende 05, working with fellow players, found a new way of gaining the sword, which sports the less dramatic title of "MsgNotFound."
The actual technique is incredibly complicated, takes just over an hour to complete, and involves using several different glitches and exploits to spawn the "unbreakable" Master Sword outside of the Prologue. It's also a risky process given that stacking so many bugs on top of one another can result in a broken save; a single mistake results in complete failure, meaning the entire process must be started again from scratch.

How To Obtain MsgNotFound In TOTK
Tricking The Game's Logic

To summarize the process, gaining access to MsgNotFound for the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom requires players to abuse a glitch that allows them to place items through a wall of the In-isa Shrine and into the Prologue's sectioned-off area. Then, through a process of loading new saves, dropping and collecting weapons, and a move known as "zuggling," the impossible Master Sword can be retained and brought over to one's main save. The entire process comprises dozens of individual steps, all of which are deftly summarized here.
It's worth noting that while this process seems like a lot to simply obtain a better version of the Master Sword, there used to be a much easier method. The old approach, which was discovered shortly after TOTK's launch in 2023, took just over five minutes to accomplish but the glitch that played a key role in obtaining MsgNotFound was quickly removed from the game through an unavoidable patch. The community has worked for over a year to regain access to the Unbreakable Master Sword so it's satisfying to see it in their hands once again.
By itself, the Master Sword isn't the best weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, even if it is a decent option for a quick battle. Having said that, the energized blade can be improved by fusing it with powerful items like a Gibdo Bone, Molduga Jaw, or Silver Lionel Horn. Still, having a version of the weapon that never runs out of energy may be enough to endure an hour-long feat of glitch exploits.
