Forget Absolute Power - Justice League x Jurassic League Is My Favorite Crossover of 2024
Summary The unexpected team-up of Justice League and Jurassic League is the standout crossover of 2024.
The emotional depth in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15 brought tears to my eyes.
Even with a comedic premise, the Trinity's interaction with their dinosaur counterparts is profoundly moving.
WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15!
I’ve been eagerly following DC’s blockbuster crisis event, Absolute Power, but the unexpected three-part Justice League x Jurassic League team-up has stolen my heart, making it my pick for the best crossover of 2024. Given the significant impact of both Beast World and Absolute Power this year, that’s a bold claim. Yet, this dino-themed saga has undeniably emerged as DC’s dark horse, standing out amid a year of major events.
What started as a light-hearted and silly story evolved into a beautifully depicted and poignant conclusion for a beloved superhero team.
I’ve never been a big fan of Booster Gold or anthropomorphic dinosaurs, but as a devoted follower of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, I decided to check out Mark Russell and Jon Mikel’s three-part story, Time Jerks. It turned out to be one of my best comic-related decisions of the year.
This tale follows Booster Gold through a series of time-traveling encounters with both the Justice League and their dinosaur counterparts, the Jurassic League. In issue #15 of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman are sent 65 million years into the past, where they meet Wonderdon, Batsaur, and Supersaur for the first time.

The Justice League Meets Their Dinosaur Counterparts in Hidden-Gem Crossover
One of my personal highlights for comics in 2024 will undoubtedly be seeing the Trinity stand alongside their dinosaur counterparts. It’s not just an epic visual; it's the fact that these three heroes will always remember that, at some point, dinosaur versions of themselves existed. What truly elevates this crossover to my favorite of the year, however, is how emotionally impactful their brief interaction is. Even though the team-up lasted only a quarter of the comic, Russell and Mikel’s storytelling brought me to tears multiple times, which is a clear sign of a phenomenal crossover.
Despite the comedic premise of the Trinity meeting their dinosaur counterparts, the interaction was laced with depth and urgency. As Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman joined forces with the Jurassic League to stave off the fallout of the asteroid responsible for the dinosaurs' mass extinction, their efforts were marked by a poignant sense of futility. The heroes fought valiantly, fully aware that their actions could only delay the inevitable. This emotionally charged team-up, while devastating, highlighted the depth and significance of the crossover, making it an unforgettable standout in the year’s comic book offerings.
The Range of Emotions Packed Into Time Jerks Makes It a Standout Crossover
Time Jerks proved to be a surprising gem in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. What started as a light-hearted and silly story evolved into a beautifully depicted and poignant conclusion for a beloved superhero team. The emotional range packed into this short-lived crossover is truly remarkable, cementing its place as the best crossover of 2024 in my eyes. As someone who appreciates great dialogue, I found Time Jerks delivered some of the funniest and most impactful lines I’ve read in ages. I can only imagine how epic this Justice League x Jurassic League crossover could have been if it had been a longer series.
