What Happened In Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc Episode #4?
Produced By Production I.G; Directed By Akira Sato
Close
Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc episode #4, “The Devil Chojin’s Raid!!,” continued where episode #3 left off with a group of mysterious robed figures going after the Perfect Large Numbers and preventing Terryman from continuing the fight. At first, the Perfect Large Numbers thought they were just the Justice Chojin wearing some odd disguises, but soon enough, it was revealed that the Perfect Large Numbers were fighting the Seven Devil Chojin, with chairman Harabote Muscle soon discovering that the Justice Chojin were taking longer to recover from their injuries than expected.
As the Devil Chojin fought the Perfect Large Numbers, Buffaloman appeared in Japan with his old partner Springman. Terryman assumed that Buffaloman asked the Seven Devil Chojin to help fight the Perfect Large Numbers while the Justice Chojin recovered, but not only were the Devil Chojin fighting for their own reasons and not to help the Justice Chojin, but Buffaloman revealed that he had left the Justice Chojin and rejoined the Devil Chojin. Kinnikuman called Buffaloman a traitor, but Buffaloman assured him he was simply acting on the wishes of a certain person, most likely Akuma Shogun.
In Soviet Russia, “Perfect Finish” Turbomen faced off against the Devil Chojin Stecasse-King, an anthropomorphic cassette player who could copy the power of the Chojin recorded on his tapes. In the years since his last appearance, Stecasse-King has created new tapes of Neptuneman, Mammothman, and Kinnikuman Zebra, some of the strongest characters in Kinnikuman, and with their power, he could easily overwhelm Turbomen. Stecasse-King soon moved to finish Turbomen off with Warsman’s cassette tapel, and it was only then that Terryman realized Turbomen was letting Stecasse-King hit him, the episode ending before revealing why.
Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc’s New Conflict Is the Franchise’s Most Unique Turn
Ever since the early days of the franchise, Kinnikuman has had a very simple style of storytelling where, except for a few occasions, the main characters are always the good guys and the people they’re fighting are always the bad guys. As such, the fight between the Devil Chojin and the Perfect Chojin is the first time Kinnikuman has truly explored a conflict that pits villains against each other, which has a lot more depth and nuance than another simple fight between good and evil, and watching how that plays out is sure to be great from start to finish.
Kinnikuman’s New Conflict Is Already Great
Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc has only just started its new conflict with episode #4, but it’s already been great. Seeing the Devil Chojin return is a welcome surprise that nicely calls back to the early days of the series, and while there’s bound to be a twist, Stecasse-King getting a good showing after his original loss to Kinnikuman is a good way of showing how it’s not just the heroes who have grown over the years. It’s another moment that’s only impactful for veteran fans of Kinnikuman, but even newer ones are sure to get a lot out of it.
Buffaloman’s involvement is also a welcome development. Buffaloman’s arc in the original series had always made him one of the more developed and admirable characters in the Kinnikuman franchise, so while Buffaloman going back to the Devil Chojin might seem like character regression on his part, Buffaloman going back to the Devil Chojin is sure to only add to his character once the full depth of the twist is revealed. Overall, Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc episode #4 did a great job of sending the story in an unexpected direction, and episode #5 is sure to be a great follow-up.
Be sure to watch Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc episode #5 when it releases on Monday, August 12.
