While easily disregarded as inventory trash, the Ancient Pal Manuscripts are key items for boosting your Pal's productivity within your base and the greater world. Ancient Pal Manuscripts can be obtained in one of two ways: Pal Expeditions or completing Bounties. While it is easier to amass more Ancient Pal Manuscripts by clearing the Pal Expeditions across Palworld, Bounties are a fairly straightforward process. There are purple Bounty markers across the map that require you to defeat the target of the particular Bounty for a reward.

Be sure to hover over the icon on the map to check each Bounty's level.

The Pal Expeditions take a bit more care to get, as you'll need to build a Pal Expedition Station that is unlocked at Level 15 for two Technology Points. It is important to note that not every location available for Pal Expeditions can offer the Ancient Pal Manuscripts as a reward. So, be sure to send your Pals to these locations to get a higher chance at receiving the Ancient Pal Manuscripts:

To start an expedition with your Pals, you can choose a destination on the map and send up to 100 of your Pals. Be sure to check that these Pals are the required type and aren't doing anything as they'll be gone for quite a while. These are currently the only known locations that drop the Ancient Pal Manuscripts with any real regularity, so send your Pals on longer expeditions to get better rewards.

What Are Ancient Pal Manuscripts Used For?

Ancient Pal Manuscripts work differently than traditional Pal upgrade materials and utilize a passive skill tree to upgrade skills. The Ancient Pal Manuscripts are used within the Pal Labor Research Laboratory to enhance passive skills like Kindling, Mining, and Crafting. Not only are your Pals upgraded from these Ancient Pal Manuscripts, but your base gains permanent boosts by unlocking the different parts of the skill tree. There are over 100 research options that can be unlocked and customized to fit your own preferences.
