When a player marries a character from the nearby Pelican Town, that NPC moves into the farmhouse with them. This adds a small room for the spouse, with a different design for each character.

The house's creator reveals that the special books were the most difficult to acquire, and required "lots of checking on the bookseller every season." The bookseller shows up twice every season in Stardew Valley, and stocks a random selection of books, so getting one of each type of book would have required a lot of time and luck.

I've started Stardew Valley several times and each time, I'm drawn to Penny and Leah. Although I tend to choose Leah (maybe because she reminds me of myself), Penny has always seemed to me to be one of the most positive and lovely marriage candidates. She is kind to others and great with kids, she always seems to look on the bright side of things, and she gives the player nice gifts and meals post-marriage.

Despite this, Penny is not spoken about nearly as often as Haley, Abigail, Sebastian, and Shane. The four aren't the most popular marriage candidates, but they're certainly the ones that players tend to discuss the most often for various reasons, while Penny is pushed to the sidelines. Players have created special farm designs for other married characters, but it's nice to see Penny from Stardew Valley getting some love, too.
