Kristen Stewart's New Romance Movie Is What Pixar's WALL-E Could Have Been As A Serious Live-Action Drama

While 2025 is just beginning, there are already plenty of movies to go out and start seeing, and one of the most intriguing films coming to theaters soon is the post-apocalyptic romance film, Love Me. The film premiered at Sundance in January 2024, but its theatrical release is coming later in January 2025. Love Me's trailer has just been revealed, giving general audiences a look at the movie before its theatrical debut, and the film looks strikingly similar to Pixar's 2008 classic, WALL-E.

WALL-E is one of Pixar's most beloved films, so naturally, Love Me's similarities to the animated hit has been turning heads, as the upcoming movie has a very similar premise. The romance stars Kristen Stewart as a buoy and Steven Yeun as a satellite on a post-apocalyptic earth, and the two must figure out what it means to be human, and navigate the complexities that come with falling in love. The biggest difference between the two films, aside from the different filmmaking medium, is likely the fact that WALL-E couldn't speak beyond his name, while the main characters in Love Me will be fully voiced throughout the film.

Another major similarity between the two films is the fact that they both feature a post-apocalyptic version of Earth inhabited only by robots. While humanity does still exist in WALL-E, and it is a major part of that film's story, the human race has seemingly completely vanished in the upcoming Kristen Stewart film, with the buoy and satellite seeming to be some of the only remnants left of humanity. However, the central point of the Earth being nearly completely devoid of human life remains the same between both films.
