Silo Season 2 Episode 8 Ending Explained: Who Attacked Juliette?

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2's episode 8.

Solo's attackers also hurt Juliette in Silo season 2's episode 8, which makes it hard not to wonder who they are and what they want from Solo and Juliette. Apple TV+'s Silo delivered one of its most compelling cliffhangers in episode 7 when Juliette almost drowned to death and discovered that Solo had been harmed and abducted by someone. Since the two characters previously believed they were alone in Silo 17, the presence of more survivors proves to be an intriguing story development.

Silo season 2's episode 8 expands on this mystery by revealing the faces of the attackers but not disclosing their identities. This leaves room for viewers to theorize who they are and how they ended up in Silo 17. At the same time, the Silo season 2 episode also walks through other story developments from Silo 18 and hints at what Salvador Quinn's coded letter might ultimately reveal about the Apple TV+ sci-fi show's dystopian world.

It Seems Likely They Were Born In Silo 17

When Juliette sets out to look for Solo in Silo season 2 episode 8's opening moments, she runs into an unknown human who first warns her to stay away and then attacks her with an arrow. Towards the end of the episode, Juliette discovers that there are several other humans in the Silo who seem to have had some vendetta against Solo. To Juliette's surprise, all the humans seem no older than 17 or 18 years in the Silo. Many clues in Silo season 2 have hinted that Solo was barely a teenager when the rebellion in his Silo took place, suggesting that he remained in his vault for several decades.

Although Solo claims to be the sole survivor of Silo 17's rebellion, it now seems likely that there were a few others who survived the catastrophic event and even ended up having children in the underground city after the rebellion.

Solo's timeline confirms that the children Juliette runs into towards the end of Silo season 2's episode 8 were born after Silo 17's rebellion. Although Solo claims to be the sole survivor of Silo 17's rebellion, it now seems likely that there were a few others who survived the catastrophic event and even ended up having children in the underground city after the rebellion. Or, since there are 49 other silos, another possibility is that the children somehow arrived in Silo 17 from another silo and decided to make it their new home.

Was Solo Killed By The Attackers?

In Silo season 2's opening episodes, Juliette notices a few dead bodies outside Solo's vault and realizes that they seem relatively less old compared to the bodies outside the silo. This reveals that two humans tried to break into Solo's vault long after the rebellion, and he killed them in retaliation. The show does not give viewers a close look at the bodies, but the dead people Solo killed were likely adults. If they, too, were children, Juliette would have noticed and seen Solo as a major threat.

Related How Long Solo Has Been In The Vault In Silo Solo's odd behavior when Juliette meets him Silo season 2's opening episodes makes it hard not to wonder how long he lived in his vault in Silo 17.

Owing to these clues, it is hard not to believe that the two dead people outside Solo's vault were the children's parents, who either survived Silo 17's rebellion and later had children or arrived in Silo 17 from another silo with their children after the rebellion. They might have tried to enter Solo's vault to look for food and other resources. However, just like Solo threatened to kill Juliette in Silo season 2's early moments, he might have had a confrontation with the two survivors.

The children must have carefully waited for Solo to step out of the vault to exact revenge on him for killing their parents.

Unlike Juliette, the two adults may not have stepped back, forcing Solo to kill them. When Solo murdered them, he may not have known that they had children as well. The children must have carefully waited for Solo to step out of the vault to exact revenge on him for killing their parents. In Silo season 2's initial episodes, they might have also tried to protect Juliette from Solo by cutting off her rope and preventing her from reaching the vault.

Why Walker Makes A Deal With Bernard

Walker Betrays Her People To Protect Carla

In a previous Silo episode, the Head of Security, Amundsen, had found footage of Carla and Walker holding hands in a jail cell, which proved that the two had feelings for one another. Many story beats surrounding Carla and Walker have also established that the two were in a romantic relationship before Walker locked herself inside her workshop. Bernard exploits this newfound information surrounding their relationship to corner Walker by threatening her that he will harm Carla if she does not become his mole.

Silo season 2 is adapting the second half of Hugh Howey's first Silo book, Wool.

To Martha's dismay, she realizes that Bernard is capable of hurting Carla if she does not comply with him. Therefore, instead of supporting her people, she exposes their plan to break into the Supply. This allows Bernard to send the Head of Security and the raiders to the Supply to ensure the Mechanical's people do not execute their plan. Silo season 2's episode 8 also suggests that Bernard will not stop here and will expect Martha to keep helping her in the future.

What Lukas Kyle Is Searching For In Judge Meadows' Home

He Goes There Looking For A Specific Book

In Silo season 2's episode 7, Lukas deduces that the code in Salvador Quinn's letter refers to the words on a page from a certain book from the pre-Silo world. This is when Bernard hands him Meadows' copy of The Wizard of Oz and asks him to check if the code can be broken through any pages in the book. Lukas' search for answers eventually leads him to Meadows' home, where he looks for more books he can refer to decode Quinn's letter. When none of the books seem to fit the bill, he looks up Salvador Quinn's descendants and sets out to meet them.

The descendants initially seem resistant and avoid talking about Quinn, claiming he was a disgrace to their family. However, after Bernard convinces Lukas that Quinn was a hero, he revisits the family and talks to them about his newfound insights on the former Silo 18 mayor. This is when the family finally caves in before showing him the books Meadows had given them in exchange for Quinn's old copy of The Pact.

Silo season 2 is set to have a total of 10 episodes, implying that two more episodes remain in the season.

After looking through the copy of The Pact, Lukas finds underlined letters that lead him to another page. The new page in the book allows Lukas to finally crack the code. With this, Lukas decodes the first sentence in the letter: "If you’ve gotten this far you already know. The game is rigged." The sentence seems to suggest that, before his demise, Salvador Quinn had learned some dark secrets about the silos and the outside world that made him lose hope in the system they loyally conformed to.
