The Family Chantel: Pedro Jimeno’s New Family Member Proves He’s Not The Villain (He Was Never The Bad Guy)
Pedro Jimeno may have been painted as the villain on The Family Chantel, but his new family member proves that he was never the bad guy. The reality TV star always had a sketchy reputation because of his treatment of Chantel Everett, whom he first met on 90 Day Fiancé season 4. Pedro and Chantel got married after meeting in the Dominican Republic, Pedro's home country. They moved to Chantel's hometown in Georgia, where their family dynamic wreaked havoc on their relationship. However, Pedro usually received most of the blame for their marital problems.
Pedro came to the United States hoping to support his family by living out the American Dream, and Chantel became less important over time. He joined Laura Delgado's realty group, where he quickly faced cheating allegations due to his relationships with Laura and a fellow employee, Antonella Barrenechea. While Pedro denied the cheating allegations, it was clear that he no longer cared about his marriage with Chantel. However, after laying down roots in America, it's clear he's ready to shed his villain status after The Family Chantel season 5.
Pedro Welcomed A Black Cat
He's Ready To Showcase A More Caring Side Of Himself
Pedro recently shared a video on Instagram featuring his new family member, a black cat that prefers to survey its kingdom from the top of the cupboards. "Black cats are different," he captioned, zooming in on an adorable black cat chilling in the kitchen. Fans were supportive in the comments, saying, "Truth - but they're the best" and, "Yes they are," followed by a "crying laughing" emoji. While Pedro used to receive endless vitriol from fans, it seems like viewers have softened as he distances himself from the show.
"Black cats are different."
Cats are typically associated with femininity, so a man who's devoted to a feline shows confidence - he's secure in his masculinity. Pedro welcoming a new family member shows his softer aspects and illustrates his readiness for commitment. It's a huge responsibility to take care of an animal, and Pedro has proven that he's up to the task. Furthermore, black cats have a special aloofness that makes Pedro's choice even more illuminating.
Pedro’s Villain Edit Was Unfair
He Wasn't All Bad

Pedro's villain edit was unfair and driven by narratives peddled freely among Chantel's family members. Karen Everett made it clear from the start that she felt that Pedro was using Chantel for a green card. While it's unclear whether this is true, Pedro insisted he was really in love with her and wanted to make a marriage work. Pedro had problems with nearly everyone in Chantel's family, even exchanging blows with her brother. Due to their hatred, it was never going to work between Pedro and Chantel.

Furthermore, Pedro's mother, Lidia Morel, and sister, Nicole Jimeno, were the real villains on The Family Chantel. Lidia clearly wanted her 15 minutes of fame and pressured her son to support them in the Dominican Republic while openly hating Chantel. If Lidia was bad, Nicole was even worse. She both hated Chantel and wanted to be just like her. A beauty queen in the Dominican Republic, Pedro's sister ridiculed Chantel's looks while getting procedures and beauty treatments that made her look more like Chantel.
The real villains in The Family Chantel were Pedro and Chantel's family members. They pitted the married couple against each other - each took their family's side during feuds, rather than being a united front. Pedro wasn't completely innocent, but neither was Chantel.
Pedro Should Get His Own Show
He Deserves To Be The Hero For Once

It's clear that Pedro needs his own reality TV show. While Lidia and Nicole aren't the most likable cast members, they would ideally be present sometimes to fill out the cast, as they're familiar faces. Laura and Antonella could also appear, as Pedro's real estate career would be the perfect focus. Reality TV shows like Selling Sunset are incredibly popular, so a real estate spin would be the perfect way to get Pedro back on television without Chantel's presence.
A reality TV show with a real estate spin would be the perfect vehicle for Pedro to revamp his tarnished image.
Pedro deserves the chance to shine without Chantel. By moving to the United States, building his career, and adding a new family member to his household, he's proven that growth is possible. Pedro and his new black cat could turn his villain edit around after a tumultuous run as the bad guy on 90 Day Fiancé and The Family Chantel.
The Family Chantel is available to stream on Discovery Plus.
